My suspicious mind thinks that the company got business from showing off the photos and the Fliggs wanted a kickback. Just a theory.
My nastier mind thinks the Fliggs must be needing money so badly to resort to embarassing themselves in this manner.
My still nastier mind thinks the Fliggs did this as a favor to get publicity for Deck the Halls.
probably it was the failure of N magazine and the resulting decline in the number of Fligg photos published monthly that actually did it

OK Gang
As a non-Christian I find the everywhere in your face Christmas decorations which make no attempt to recognize that not everyone is Christian offensive and rude. The University is a PUBLIC institution and the University should not be expressing an endorsement of ANY religious position. Notice Bradshaw allowed employees to display whatever they wish in the spaces which are considered "private" or "semi-private."
Wake up SWFL there is big world out there. Other people's beliefs NEED to be taken into account. In the absence of a "how do we recognize other religions" policy the only option is to NOT make an overt display of favoring one religion over another.
Christmas is NOT a national holiday it is a religious holiday. If you are not mature enough to recognize that others might take offense at not being "included" then you are not mature enough to actually discuss this subject.

Open Letter to David Lucas and Kitty Green:
Last year you attempted a unilateral change to the membership plan. The change was met with much resistance and ultimately was adopted only on a going forward basis. That episode cost you the trust of the members.
Obviously you learned little from that episode. When faced with a cash flow problem you chose to impose a solution on the members of your clubs without their consent. I believe that decision will cost you the continued existence of BBG as an ongoing concern.
You have advisory boards for each club. Instead of consulting with them about a problem and how to go about solving it (in this case the compound problem of too many resignations, the 30 day refundibility commitment and the fact BBG has spent the membership deposits), you announce a decision and then ask the boards to help you manage the reaction. That is both a waste of the talents of the members of the boards and an abuse.
You have the ability to call a general membership meeting and obtain a vote to make changes. This method would not be unilateral. You chose to ignore this approach.
So once again you announce a unilateral change. But this time the stakes are higher. You can argue all you want that you have the "right" to alter the membership plan. A resigning member will have the ability to file a bankruptcy petition against you once the 30 days has past (or perhaps even sooner since you have written that you will not pay). Three such creditors and you will be in bankruptcy court.
Once there regardless of whether you win or lose you are finished. Why would anyone trust you with money?
You can argue that these decisions are in the best interest of each of the clubs. Fine. But, the resigning member is NOT concerned with the best interest of the club. He or she just wants their money back. By unilaterally abrogating a contractual promise (and the precedent of last year indicates you are aware that the members regard it as a contractual promise) you leave yourself open to lawsuits and involuntary bankruptcy.
The process you used to implement this decision was grossly irresponsible. I fear that a pillar of the community is now lost.
Please focus on the impending bankruptcy issues. Time is short.

So is a bankruptcy in the offing?
David and Kitty's letter of 11/7 makes it clear that BBG has decided to not pay some bills when due in order to conserve cash so as to pay other expenses.
In my albeit limited experience that is exactly the evidence needed to cause a judge to grant an involuntary bankruptcy petition. The unpaid creditors can easily argue that BBG is dissipating the monies which should have gone to those creditors for the benefit of others who stand lower in the queue.
I believe the bankruptcy courts are concerned about dissipation of funds/assets, a lack of willingness to pay, and a habit of non-payment.
The 11/7 letter does a marvelous job of demonstrating problems on all three factors.
BBG seems to believe it has the right to make unilateral changes to contracts.
Funny, we have a clause in the US Constutution which prohibits that.
Or does BBG think they are exempt from that too?

Let's see the people whose credibility was at issue deny having credibility problems. How incredible!
Pegnetter PERSONALLY committed retribution on the lawyer.
The University paid $800k for his personal message of disdain and expression of ego.
Credible? NOT

Now we are nearing $5 million because McAloose was an intolerant bigot who at a minimum condoned if not encouraged disgusting behavior.
That $5 million could have done a lot of good at FGCU.
Thanks Carl, thanks Dick, thanks Bill.
You want us all to believe your good deeds allow you the license to misbehave.
Well.... NOT!

ABOUT TIME!!!
GOOD RIDDANCE.
Once Pegnetter is also gone perhaps FGCU can begin to recover some shred of decency and dignity.
$4.2 million for gross mis-behavior. For shame.

Hey SIMPLE all REAL ESTATE is LOCAL
articles about the condition of housing in the US as a whole are meaningless when it comes to predicting the local market
and what is your beef? Wanting prices to keep going down is the same as wanting teh economy to tank. Who would that help?

Perhaps if we all chip in the cost of merely one bottle, the NDN could afford to hire staff who have been to school and have learned how to write.
Our once proud newspaper has been reduced to printing confusing mush produced from barely educated twenty somethings who are the only fools willing to work for the pittance wages Scripps will pay them.
If the NDN management would wake up and realize that there is a market for LOCAL NEWS then perhpas teh paper will survice for a few more years. Right now they are building a white elephant on Immokalee Road to house the printing press for papers other than the NDN (since the NDN will be out of business).
Phil Chris and crew -- if you invest in LOCAL NEWS you will get a return.
No one reads the NDN for national and world news so drop the coverage and save the money.
And PLEASE PLEASE invest in a copy editor who is empowered to reject incoherent *** like the present "article"
