Beachykeen, hey, you're taking yourself way to seriously. If you will notice, I used the word "we" in the first sentence. It was not meant to be personal, just my attempt at humor. I was not trying to show nerve, or audacity or gall or impudence or even impertinence. Sorry if I ruffled your feathers. Oh gosh, dare I say it, "get over it." Oh sorry, couldn't help myself.

Gosh, could we all use our thesaurus and please find other adjectives to describe any letter to the editor from a conservative? I've seen the word vitriolic in just about every other letter to the editor, especially during the campaign.

I used my thesaurus, here's just a few examples:
vitriolic: Spiteful, venomous, acerbic or rancorous.
diatribe: Attack, tirade, invective...

"Invective" now there's a word, huh? Great word, I'll have to remember that one.

PS, "Office of the President Elect", well that is kind of presumptuous, don't ya think? But what do I know, I don't have an invective bone in my body. Invective! I love that word! However I'm not sure if I used it correctly in a sentence. Well, back to my thesaurus.

greatthornedlizard, I have never encountered the "lunatic christians" that you refer to, and I suspect neither have you. It's just a popular thing to say these days. Show the world how progressive you are by calling Christians snide and unholy names.

The Christians I have come to know in my lifetime had nothing to do with lunacy. I have seen no intolerance, in fact, just the opposite. The only extreme behavior I have encountered with true Christians, is extreme love, extreme kindness and extreme patience. I have always admired and envied those qualities in humans and I aspire to that mind set.

I don't mean to offend, but I believe the intolerance is yours.

On Guest Commentary: What about tolerance for traditional American values?

I'm sure the fight is not over, anyone with a cause and a perceived injustice is able to initiate and march on with their beliefs because we live in America. This is the place of free speech and ideas, unless of course those ideas hold anything Christian within. Bramble, why do you assume it is only the individuals that hold "Christian Values" that are voting for amendment 2?

FarmerTom: You review two paragraphs from Mr. Rutherford's comments and then state "that is a lie" What exactly, from those two paragraphs, is the lie? All of it? Some of it? Help me out here.

I may be wrong, but I know of no help received from the ACLU when it comes to Christian matters. The ACLU has come to the "rescue" of many causes and agendas, some unpopular, many radical, however I know of no such "help" from ACLU for anything Christian.

You also state that you can see no "logical reason to preclude persons of the same sex from marrying." I find no "logic" at all in a same sex union. Even if you take the moral and religious aspects out of the mix and you still have a concept that is just illogical.

rationalman: You use the term "Traditional morality." There is not "your" morality or "my" morality there is just morality. Like truth, there is only one. Morality is singular, something is moral or it is not.

Both rationalman and FarmerTom believe same sex marriage is a civil right. I do not view same sex marriage as a civil right. I believe those who went before us, fighting for our civil rights, would be offended at this notion.

Prevailing in every same sex debate are words such as bigotry, ignorance, and racist and usually these words are used to describe anyone with an opposing view. And if you happen to be a Christian with an opposing view then you may be described as an extreme fanatic ignorant bigot and racist. This offends me because again, the Christian point of view is trumped by those who describe themselves as enlightened, however those same enlightened individuals see no worth in the Christian way of life.

Christians may be against same sex marriage, Christians would also like their children to be allowed to pray in school. Christians would love to express the love of God without prejudice and Christians would love to practice thier faith without being viewed as wrong or extreme. I don't see the ACLU coming to their rescue.

You say we don't need religion to tell us what to do. I have to disagree with you on that. I believe religion, faith and a love of God is imperative for a good and powerful nation to survive and thrive. I believe a good many of the brave men that authored the Constitution believed the same thing.

Could be, tee, however I'm sure the pain of a family member, should they read jelly's comments, would be vast. There is never anything funny about the death of a child, and in this case, such a horrible way to die and the devastation of the sibling will be life long. Shame on you, jelly.

P. S ecoterror, "indifference" is how these issues (such as 0 to 50) are passed along without confict or an opposing voice.

Ooooh, ecoterror, how nasty. I thought the comment showed an excellent sense of humor, of course, I'm just part of that "dumb" audience. I suppose ignorance is bliss, if so, it allows me to laugh at the absurd and you qualify for that heading most certainly. Lighten up and laugh.
