I know when I needed to look at some records in the clerk's office, I was given the records, sat in a room and a staffer was in there. No big deal...I didn't need to have paper copies of anything, so I wasn't charged, but I was prepared to pay $1 a copy. Seems to me like the county and that audit firm they hired are a bunch of people who want to violate the law.

Organized chaos. No, an anonymous call isn't public record. Why don't you read 119 and see the reason the media nationwide does this once a year? It's to keep the powers that be in check. Believe me, I have first-hand knowledge of how CCSO covers up or doesn't follow 119 on a regular basis. I personally know that Steve Russell has copies of all these e-mails. I personally know that charlie Crist and His office of open government are well aware of this constant violation. And, no one does anything about it. Funny, Steve Russell's office wants you to sign a formal complaint or notify the CCSO of the violation. That's laughable. That's the fox guarding the hen house. The same public records can be used without a person signing a complaint. By requiring the complaint to be signed, Russell's office itself is violating 119. I will work diligently to have Steve Russell ousted. Maybe everyone ought to watch on WINK News Monday what he's doing about helping put grow house operators behind bars and keeping them there. That's right, he's not. How many other criminals are being let go by Russell? I bet a lot.

As an aside, if you read the Fort Myers News Press about Lee County Sheriff's Office, Sgt. Larry King says the reason they were in compliance is because of the experience in the PIO office...Three of them have media backgrounds (you know, media- the watchdogs of government) and they belong to an organization called Florida Law Enforcement Public Information Officers Association (a great group by the way). I do believe CCSO has former media types (what, at least three of them also?) but yet they failed badly? It's amazing to me the difference with both employing several former media types. Maybe Rambosk ought to get rid of all of his PIO staff and get someone in there who really knows what they are doing. If he would, then I bet you'd see a lot less shenanigans by the department as a whole because then they'd know if they screwed up, it would be out there for everyone to see, instead of the cover ups that go on.

No. 14. You can request to see a copy of the records. If the agency opts to make copies, then that's on its back. If the requestor asks for copies, then yes, they should pay for them. I don't know which this NDN staffer did as it is not outlined in the article. Instead of beefing about papers statewide doing this, why don't you beef about how many state agencies violate YOUR rights to know? And they violate STATE LAW, which Steve Russell has already proven he won't do diddly about it. Me thinks it's time for a new state attorney who will prosecute everyone fully and to the letter of the law. He's letting criminals walk not only by not enforcing 119, but also by not enforcing some other laws I'm aware of...

Does anyone want all the e-mails I've sent to the CSSO requesting public records? I'm still waiting on some and Ms. Harper who is referenced in this article is aware of it, so is Charlie Crist, Jeff Kottkamp, Steve Russell's office, the state attorney general's office, the sheriff himself and a few other people. I know that for a fact because I've blind copied those people. And guess what? It's public record. Anyone can ask for the e-mails I've sent...Heck, I'll provide them to you myself. Just send me an e-mail through this site. It's amazing what they are not providing. Another thing the CCSO does is require someone to sign a receipt (also a violation of law) when picking up those records. It's just too funny how badly CCSO violates 119, especially with all those former media types working for them who used to rag on them all the time. Way to go NDN, keep up the pressure now. There's a lot more out there. And Kara Kenney knows it too!!!

Heck, Tampa and St. Pete newspapers have had story after story about how people are opening up their homes and renting them for exhorbitant amounts during this time...Let's just add to the cost of this trial by moving it to Super Bowl territory during Super Bowl time....Good luck even finding anything for the principals, let alone sequestration of the jurors...This is laughable.

I hope the family can afford to have a qualified herpetological veterinarian check their baby out. Reptiles take longer to go under for surgeries and longer to come out. Before reptiles show illness, it is usually too late to save them. They can be ill for months or even up to a year before they succumb to their illness. Please, family, have him checked by a herp doctor. If you don't know one, e-mail me through my name and I'll give you the name of a few..Good job firefighters. Thanks for saving this little boy's pet!!!!

The NDN points out two possible sexual exploits by jail deputies in two years. I know of at least three that have been printed or reported....Everyone seems to forget Freeman....
