Strip off the old paint. wipe the poles down with muratic acid to lessen the effects of the galvanization. allow to weather for a couple of weeks. prime and paint. should take care of the problem. and lessen the disruption to the flow of traffic and taxpayer costs.

why does a person stop on a bicycle and pull out what appears to be a gun and point it at the police? Not normal behavior. was he trying to commit suicide by cop? maybe. Personally I think he saw the officers and stopped and they were all watching him like what is this guy doing here. Maybe even telling him to move along. At which time he goes into his backpack to retreive the pellet gun he found that he wants to turn into the police. In these split seconds officers are yelling and guns are being drawn. Suspect is like what the hell moving his arms up to show them its just a pellet gun. Bullets fly and we wait to hear the real truths come out. Only one side of the story has been told so far. maybe even one of the cruisers camera has caught the whole thing on tape. I personally will wait and see how things unfold.

Alot of poor judgements over the years have been hurting naples tourism. Parking problems, excess ticket writing. tourists get the feel they are unwanted. I can go somewhere else where im not harrased.

A very sad Day for MIPD. The actions of this officer discredits other Officers. It also shows underlying problems higher up. The end result is it will cost us tax payers. If Marco Island is foolish enough to keep this Officer on the force and another incident happens it will open us tax payers up to an even BIGGER law suit. This officer was wrong in what he did and should be removed.

Your Wrong Naplesmomma. This area is a known problem. Drug Deals, prostitutes, robberies and murders take place here. Eventually the city of Naples and Collier County will get and elect Qualified Canidates to clean these area"s up and make them safer for everyone. Years ago video monitoring should have been placed here and a full time patrol walking a beat. A joint effort from The sheriff office and Naples PD could clean this area up.

Gumshoe I was just pointing out that not everyone in jail is convicted or have had their day in court. Generally the public and the staff seems to forget this.

Over Crowding is a serious problem. it endanger"s staff and inmates alike. Reading the article give"s you a glimpse of underlying problems brewing. Staff is over worked and developing the attitude that inmates are needy. They can"t do for themselves they are in jail what do you expect. The article also shows how inmates are starting to be treated as sub-humans and more like livestock. For the Callous people at heart remember this is jail not prison. A holding place for people that are not yet found GUILTY!! TO.
