The referendum can always be put to vote again - GET RID OF THOMPSON, get rid of GED-BOY, CALAHUGE, and FLIPPER-CARROLL and put the referendum back to the people and I bet there would be a unanimous passing FOR THE KIDS.... Mark my words - we will hear "I told you so", either way this vote goes - it either the money didn't come fast enough or it will NEVER be enough with this group -

I don't think its a matter of DTs wife teaching - Mrs. Baker was one of the finest teachers at Barron - DTs wife is just one more symptom of the disease - just like the Nasty Nasty AP at Lely - that is the wife of the Barron principal - and then we have the "much more qualified" principals at Naples Park and the school in Immokalee - and what about Ditsy Chick #2's ongoing relationship with the AP at NHS? And don't forget that at anytime now, Sr. Hayes will be making an entrance -the bright side is - they will fall like dominoes when DT gets the boot - just like locusts, they swarm in, feed-destroy and move out - all together - and then we'll have the task of clean-up.

My sentiments exactly Toesmom - that endorsement and little dig against Sprague (like the only thing she is/was is a "lowly" old teacher) just sealed my vote! Wish someone would run on the platform to rid us Thompson as effectively as Calabrese carried out his mission of firing Baker - that person would run away with the win!

I am in total agreement with post #42 - GoodSense - you hit the nail on the head - Thompson has undermined, manipulated and controlled this board and the system itself - we are in shambles and given more money - NO GUARANTEE - not even a hint that the money will be put to good use - someone said the community will have to have tighter reigns and DEMAND more accountability - well HELLLLLLOOOO??? How would you explain the block scheduling manipulation - and then firing of the custodians BEFORE the referendum had a chance to be instituted.... THAT MONEY, IF THIS PASSES - I ASSURE YOU WILL NOT BE USED THE WAY THE PUBLIC INTENDS IT ANY MORE THAN THE BLOCK SCHEDULE WAS UPHELD AS IT WAS INTENDED........

So many great points have been made - many say they will vote YES - but again, what assurances are there that HE will put the money to "good and proper" use - Just as stated above - The Board voted with the intent to leave the block schedule for one more year - but he pulled a fast one - bait and switch tactic - DON'T THINK FOR A MOMENT THAT THE SAME THING WON'T HAPPEN - The vote for the custodians could have been held off until after the NOvember vote so that 250 people wouldn't be hsitcanned before the holidays - and don't even tell me that they are okay because they are afforded a job with Tennessee-based GCA -
If this doesn't pass, it will give him a reason to say "I told you so" and if it does he has millions to squander - CATCH 22 - this is a no win situation as long as he's piloting the ship.
What about the extension to his contract????
What about Calabrese????

monkaboy - the answer to your comment is that GED-BOY LOVES TO HEAR HIMSELF YAK..... Have you never watched him at a Board Meeting - He yaks about stuff all the time he has no clue about - This was probably THE smartest thing that man has EVER done - shut his trap and admitted he knows nothing! FINALLY - maybe there is hope for him yet... but I seriously doubt it!

I'll donate to the Thompson-go-home-fund - and another buck for the side-kicks, although they are under no "real" contract - Pay them off - send them packing - and take their principals' with them - especially the asst principal who has been noted to to have a loud, nasty and demanding voice - noting that nothing can touch her bcause she has friends in "high" places!

Gordy - I wish I knew which restaurant you were at because I would gladly shake the owner's hand and commend him and his staff for following through to reinforce the good manners that should be instilled in not only children, but adults these days as well!
Sorry, but if you condone this kind of rude behavior, I can only imagine what you consider to be "nicely" dressed!
And, by the way - I am in the under-40 age group so please don't think I am an elderly person just looking for something to complain about!

The decision to place sprague and donovan, curatolo and calabrese on the committees was all done behind closed doors - Thompson has carroll wrapped - (must be his charm). Things will appear pretty on the surface, but deep down - the board members are the puppets and thompson is the puppet master - put them where they can do the least damage - keep their plates so full that they can't make waves -
On Collier School Board members eager for a fresh start
